Micro Needling

Micro Needling is also known as Dermal Needling or Micro-Dermal Needling

What exactly is Micro Needling?

Micro Needling uses very fine medical needles to penetrate the skin's surface layer. In response, the skin cells release a series of growth factors and proteins. The result is the natural production of collagen and elastin fibres in the skin, improving the skin by inducing increased fibre strength and elasticity, and a thicker tissue layer.

What is Micro Needling used for?

Micro Needling is used as a minimally-invasive, non-surgical procedure for facial rejuvenation and scar revision. It can significantly help with:

  • Restoring skin's elasticity and strength
  • Softening wrinkles and fine lines
  • Reducing acne scars
  • Pore size reduction
  • Improving stretch marks
  • Reducing the appearance of scarring
  • Fading pigmentation and sun damage
  • Hair loss

How many treatments will I need?

A course of three to six treatments is recommended to achieve optimal results. As individual results vary, sometimes more or less may be needed. The results are evident in skin texture and appearance after the first treatment

Who should NOT have Microneedling treatment?

You should not have treatment if you are pregnant or breast-feeding, have active skin disorders in the area, are currently physically unwell, are planning UV exposure in the next two weeks or have had sun exposure in the last two weeks, are prone to keloid scarring, or are on Roaccutane or similar medications (I will ask about your medications at the time of your consultation).

What should I do before my treatment?

All of my skin correction treatments ideally start with healthy and well hydrated skin. A good skincare regime, good nutrition, and plenty of water in the weeks before treatment will help ensure the best outcome for you.

You must have a skin consultation before your Micro Needling treatment, to ensure your skin is in good condition. Good skincare including Vitamin A and Vitamin C will help to maintain the ongoing health of collagen and elastin.

What should I do after my treatment?

You will be given full aftercare instructions at the time of your treatment, which will include the following:

  • Avoid active skincare products for 3-4 days after treatment.
  • Use the skin products recommended.
  • Avoid sun exposure, and protect your skin with sunscreen and regular re-application.
  • Avoid excessive exercise, including swimming, spa or sauna for 24 hours after treatment.
  • Stay well hydrated.
